Deprivation is good

We ate scraps and stayed with people who didn't want us there. We stayed with my uncle for a few weeks. He didn't have heat in his house. My mother then rented an old house that didn't heave heat either. She did the best she could with what she had. She would make batches of fudge and we would go door to door and sell it. It was cold. This was in Canada in the winter and the snow would pile up sometimes over 10 feet hills of snow when the plow pushed it away from th estreet. When I lived iin the US I got used to a certain level of safety meaning that when I was bad I was not beaten
