Mindy McCready was sensitive girl who suffered from depression and addiction.  She was ashamed of her illness and the stigma associated with it.  Mindy went into treatment for depression and substance abuse.   While in treatment Mindy watched the news as they continually used her pain as entertainment and never missed a chance to point out how damaged she was.  

 

 She was terrified of what that stigma would do to her career.  Against her better judgment she checked herself out of treatment thinking it would stop the media from harassing her.   She was in so much pain that she had to medicate herself with drugs and alcohol just to survive.  Not long after her discharge from treatment the pain in her life was unbearable when her fiancé died of suicide.  Mindy could not cope with the pain anymore and she ended her life and ended her dog's life as well.

If there's anything we can learn from Mindy's life is that It's crucial for those who suffer with depression/addiction reach out for treatment and get help.   To hell with the stigma.  We deserve to take care of ourselves.  Help is out there.  Often people will be referred to treatment centers or hospitals to recover.  lt is crucial to follow doctor's orders and we want to help facilitate you.

The Mindy McCready foundation will help those who are in a recovery center/or hospital for depression and need someone to take care of their animals while they are in treatment.  The last thing a person should have to deal with at a time like this is to worry about who will take care of their companion animal.

Our mission is to provide loving pet care so people can focus on their recovery while knowing that their pet is well taken care while they take care of themselves.
